21-Year-Old Escapes Torture After Rejecting Cybercrime Job

Junior Izuchukwu, a 21-year-old from Ebonyi State, recounted his harrowing experience of being detained and tortured for nearly three months after rejecting a cybercrime job in Enugu State. He was allegedly lured by Miracl Tochukwu under the pretense of legitimate employment.

Upon arrival, Izuchukwu and others were subjected to violence when they expressed their unwillingness to participate in the cybercrime activities. They were beaten and confined until they paid a ransom.

Izuchukwu detailed the brutal treatment they endured, including physical abuse with various objects. The victims managed to escape on June 11, 2026, after discovering an opportunity to flee.

Following their escape, they received medical treatment for their injuries. The Civil Right Realization Network has called for urgent intervention from Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah and the prosecution of those involved in this grave crime against human rights.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps confirmed the incident but did not provide further details.
