Businessman Scammed N400m by Fake PFIPC Director-General

Gbenga Collins, the Managing Director of Divine Dopacy Nigeria Limited, reported to the House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee that he was scammed out of N400 million by Adeniyi Adeyemi, who falsely claimed to be the Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC). Collins believed Adeyemi's claims due to his official setting in the Federal Secretariat, Abuja, where he was accompanied by security personnel and government vehicles.
Collins first met Adeyemi in December 2024 during a program in Ogbomoso and was invited to Abuja in early 2025 to discuss a business opportunity. Adeyemi convinced Collins to handle the renovation and furnishing of what he claimed was his official residence.
Collins was shown the property and received a contract award letter and agreement in April 2025. The ongoing investigation into the PFIPC has raised questions about the legitimacy of Adeyemi's operations and the agency itself.
