Abiodun Warned Against Supporting Daniel for Senate

Dapo Abiodun, the Governor of Ogun State, disclosed that he received warnings against supporting Otunba Gbenga Daniel, the former governor and current senator representing Ogun East, for the Senate in the 2023 general election. Concerns were raised that Daniel might turn against him.

Abiodun made this statement while welcoming members of Daniel's political family and the late Senator Buruji Kashamu's political group into the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abeokuta. He described their return as a vital step for the party ahead of the 2027 elections.

Despite the warnings, Abiodun chose to support Daniel out of respect for him as a former governor, stating that political disagreements should not diminish respect for past officeholders. He also expressed concerns regarding Daniel's recent activities, including the relaunch of his foundation, which featured Hon. Ladi Adebutu from the Peoples Democratic Party as a special guest, suggesting Daniel's shift away from the APC.
