Obasanjo's Daughter Announces Ogun Governorship Bid

Olusegun Obasanjo's daughter declared her intention to run for the governorship of Ogun State during a program on EAGLE 102.5 FM in Iles-Ijebu. She previously represented the Ogun Central senatorial district from 2007 to 2011 and is a renowned epidemiologist and former Ogun State Commissioner for Health.

After losing her re-election bid in 2011, she pursued an academic career, rising to the rank of professor. In her announcement, she expressed a desire to bridge the gap in the state and positively impact the lives of Ogun citizens.

She addressed concerns about power rotation in Ogun State, asserting that the Ogun West region should not be blamed for not producing a governor since the state's creation 50 years ago. Obasanjo acknowledged two disadvantages in her race: timing and funding, stating that money is crucial in Nigerian politics.

However, she expressed confidence in her ability to secure the APC ticket and win the governorship.
