Obi Promises Credible Opposition if Elected President

Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State, expressed his commitment to prioritizing credible opposition if he is elected president of Nigeria. He emphasized the importance of opposition parties in governance during a visit to the University of Niger, where he donated ₦25 million for the development of the institution.

Obi, who previously belonged to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC), explained his departure from political parties due to internal crises and unresolved litigations. He criticized the current political landscape, stating that many politicians seek power for its own sake rather than for the benefit of the people.

Obi urged for a thriving democracy and highlighted the need for serious investment in education, asserting that young people should not have to rely on connections to secure jobs. He also mentioned the importance of supporting educational initiatives rather than spending money on political agents.
