Okinbaloye Defends Against Wike's Intimidation Remarks

Seun Okinbaloye, a Channels TV anchor, responded to comments made by Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, stating that he will not be intimidated. During a broadcast on Sunday, Okinbaloye expressed gratitude for the support he received from civil society organizations and viewers following Wike's remarks.

He highlighted the dangers of undermining democracy and silencing dissenting voices, particularly during election periods. Okinbaloye noted that he had received reassurances regarding his safety and clarified that Wike's comments were not intended to convey physical harm.

However, he warned against using inflammatory language that could incite violence against journalists. Amnesty International Nigeria condemned Wike's statement, labeling it reckless and dangerous for press freedom.
