Ibadan Residents Protest Circular Road Project Expansion

Residents along the Ibadan Circular Road corridor staged a peaceful protest, calling for intervention from Governor Seyi Makinde and Oba Rasidi Ladoja of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII). They described the situation as unjust, citing a lack of transparency surrounding the project.

The protesters carried placards expressing their dissatisfaction with the compensation process, alleging selective treatment and demanding that the government adhere strictly to the original 75-meter limit established in the 2006 acquisition framework during Senator Ladoja's administration. Olajid Abass, speaking on behalf of the group, highlighted that despite 2,000 residents being affected, only 200 received compensation, which was deemed inadequate.

The residents rejected any expansion beyond the legal boundaries and called for the government to ensure fair compensation for property owners before any demolition occurs. They urged the governor and the oba to facilitate dialogue to prevent further escalation and warned that neglecting their concerns could undermine public trust and disrupt the project's execution.
