Ibadan Cultural Festival to Boost City's Economic Potential

Ajeniyi Ajewol, the president of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), stated that Ibadan has the potential to become Nigeria's economic hub, capable of creating employment opportunities for youth and significantly boosting the state's internal revenue. This disclosure was made during a press conference announcing the activities for the grand final of the 2026 Ibadan Cultural Festival, scheduled for April 18, 2026, at the Lekan Salami Sport Complex in Adamasingba, Ibadan.

Ajewol emphasized that the festival serves not only as a cultural celebration but also as a platform to foster unity among residents and promote the city’s economic potential. The festival will feature various activities, including a talent hunt, a beauty pageant, and a Fuji talent show, aimed at showcasing local talent and attracting tourism.

The event will also honor notable individuals who have contributed to the city's progress. Gbolagad Aker, the festival committee chairman, expressed optimism about the festival's role in preserving Ibadan's cultural heritage and enhancing its status as a major tourism destination.
