El-Rufai's Son Accuses ICPC of Political Weaponization

Mohan Bello El-Rufai, son of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has publicly condemned the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) following a raid on their Abuja home. He accused the ICPC of acting as a political weapon against his father, who served as governor from 2015 to 2023.

The ICPC claimed to have recovered items linked to sensitive security materials during the search, which took place in the presence of El-Rufai's wife and son. Bello El-Rufai rejected these allegations, describing them as misleading and aimed at influencing public opinion.

He asserted that the commission's actions were outside its professional boundaries and suggested that the raid was part of a smear campaign. The family maintains that no surveillance equipment was found and that the items taken were ordinary, including an old phone and a laptop.

They have expressed confidence in the judicial process to determine the truth and protect due process amid allegations of financial misconduct against Nasir El-Rufai.
