ICPC Recommends Sanctions for 13 Officials Over PFIPC

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has recommended administrative sanctions against 13 public servants connected to the fraudulent activities of the purported Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC). This recommendation was part of an interim investigation report submitted to President Bola Tinubu on August 6.

The ICPC stated that the PFIPC operated without any legal foundation as a Federal Government agency. The report also calls for the prosecution of Adeniyi Adeyemi, the alleged Director-General of PFIPC, for forgery, impersonation, false statements, and criminal misrepresentation.

The investigation revealed that the PFIPC gained access to government offices and financial institutions by presenting false documents as legitimate government instruments. Among those recommended for sanctions are Mimi Abu, Rosemary Achem, and Patricia Akhigbe, among others from various government departments.

The ICPC urged the affected institutions to implement necessary reforms based on the investigation's findings.
