IDEAS Project Trains 80,000 Nigerian Youth in Skills

The IDEAS Project, coordinated by Mrs. Blessing Ogwu, aims to train and equip 80,000 young Nigerians with technical skills to become job creators rather than job seekers. This initiative was officially launched by the Federal Ministry of Education on October 14 in Abuja, with over 200 beneficiaries present.
The project, financed by the World Bank, offers a monthly stipend of N30,000 to participants who meet a 65% attendance requirement. Training is conducted in cohorts across all states of Nigeria, utilizing Training Service Providers (TSPs) to deliver workshops and provide necessary equipment and instructors.
Beneficiaries must be Nigerian citizens and provide their National Identification Number (NIN) and Bank Verification Number (BVN) for stipend disbursement. The program aims to bridge the skill gap and reduce unemployment by equipping youth with practical skills.
Tim Akano, MD/CEO of New Horizons, emphasized the collaboration with the federal government and the World Bank, while Dr. Bankole Ayodele from the African Institute of Public Health praised the initiative for its practical approach to education.
