IED Explosion Injures Soldier, NSCDC Personnel in Imo

On March 18, at approximately 8:35 AM, an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated in Orsu Local Government Area, Imo State, injuring a soldier and a personnel from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC). The incident occurred during a joint operation involving troops from the 34 Artillery Brigade, who were targeting suspected hideouts linked to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN).

The explosion happened as personnel were attempting to conceal the pressure-activated device. Immediate first aid was administered to the injured individuals, who were subsequently evacuated to a medical facility for further treatment.

The operation in the area is ongoing, focusing on dismantling criminal hideouts to enhance safety.
