ADC Faces Structural Crisis in Kebbi Ahead of Elections

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kebbi State is currently experiencing a significant structural crisis, with its grassroots organization across the 21 local government areas deteriorating ahead of the 2027 general elections. Reports indicate that local chapters are largely inactive and deeply divided, raising concerns about the party's ability to mobilize voters.

The situation has been exacerbated by a series of internal leadership crises, notably the suspension of Sule Iko Sadeeq, who was alleged to have declared himself state chairman without authorization. This suspension was confirmed by the party's state public secretary, Abubakar Atiku Musa.

Following this, factional disputes led to the suspension of several other party officials, including Sufiyanu Bala. A high court in Birnin Kebbi issued an injunction in November 2025, restraining factions from presenting themselves as party leaders pending a court decision.

The ADC's challenges contrast sharply with the dominance of the All Progressives Congress (APC), which won all 21 chairmanship positions in the 2024 local government elections, complicating the ADC's efforts to gain electoral success.
