Udeze Criticizes Martins' NFF Leadership Suggestion

Former Nigeria international Ifeanyi Udeze publicly criticized fellow ex-striker Obafemi Martins after Martins proposed Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, as the next president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). Udeze's remarks came during a discussion on Brila FM, where he questioned the rationale behind Martins' suggestion.

He argued that if the goal was to introduce younger leadership into Nigerian football, there are more qualified candidates already involved in the sport. Udeze dismissed the proposal as unrealistic, noting that Seyi Tinubu lacks a background in football administration.

This criticism occurs amid a challenging period for Nigerian football, highlighted by the women's national team's failure to qualify for the FIFA Women's World Cup for the first time since 1991. Following this setback, the NFF, led by Ibrahim Gusau, has faced postponed elections and is expected to have a caretaker committee appointed by the National Sports Commission to manage affairs until a full electoral process can be completed.
