Adebayo Urges Leaders to Implement Electoral Laws

During an Iftar dinner in Abuja, Adewol Adebayo, the principal of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), called on political leaders to ensure the implementation of electoral laws to foster public confidence in Nigeria's democratic processes. He highlighted the significance of fair and transparent electoral procedures, particularly as the country prepares for the 2027 general elections.

Adebayo stressed that democracy ultimately belongs to the Nigerian people and should not be limited to political office holders. He urged leaders to align their actions with moral expectations during Ramadan, a month of spiritual reflection.

Adebayo also expressed hope that Nigeria's leadership would demonstrate statesmanship by promoting unity and constructive dialogue. He noted concerns regarding certain provisions in the electoral process that could limit citizen participation and called for adjustments to strengthen democracy.

Sadiq Umar Gomb, the SDP chairman, emphasized the importance of unity and political engagement across party lines to enhance Nigeria's democratic environment.
