Adebayo Advocates for Nigeria's Victory in 2027 Elections

During an iftar gathering, Adewale Adebayo, the leader of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), stated that Nigeria must emerge as the ultimate winner in the 2027 presidential elections. He highlighted that neither the current president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, nor any other candidate should be seen as the sole victor; rather, the focus should be on the Nigerian people.

Adebayo stressed the importance of citizen participation in the electoral process, arguing that it is a constitutional obligation. He called for a record voter turnout in the upcoming elections, especially given the current critical state of the nation.

Adebayo cautioned against the mindset of manipulating electoral laws for personal gain and urged the president to reflect on these issues during the holy month of Ramadan. Additionally, Sadiq Umar Gomb, the national chairman of SDP, called for transparency in electoral laws to ensure free and fair elections, while Yusuf Dantal from IPAC urged Tinubu to amend recent electoral laws to promote inclusive democracy.
