15,000 Police Personnel Deployed for Osun Election

Samuel Etaifo, the Commissioner of Police in charge of the Osun governorship election, announced that about 15,000 operatives will be deployed for the election on August 15. This deployment will consist of conventional policemen, specialists, dog section, medical personnel, and the Police Mobile Force.

A Deputy Inspector General of Police and an Assistant Inspector General of Police will also participate in the operation. Etaifo stated that he was deployed early due to heightened tensions in the region.

He emphasized the importance of upholding ethical standards and acting within the law, warning that anyone obstructing a free and fair election would face consequences. Notably, any individuals arrested during the election will be transferred to Abuja, as this election is considered a federal government event.

The election will feature 14 candidates, including the incumbent governor, Ademola Adeleke.
