Police Monitoring Unit Restructured Under Olatunji Disu

Inspector General of Police Olatunji Disu has ordered a significant restructuring of the Police Monitoring Unit, confirmed on Monday in Abuja. This initiative is part of a broader reform effort aimed at tightening discipline and improving the performance of police officers across Nigeria.

The restructuring is designed to create a clearer operational structure and enhance the unit's capacity to supervise police activities nationwide. The spokesperson, Anthony Placid, explained that the reorganization will streamline functions and improve real-time oversight of police personnel.

The unit will actively track officer performance and enforce compliance with professional standards, addressing misconduct within the force. Aliyu Abubakar has been appointed as the new head of the reorganized unit, bringing years of investigative experience from his previous role as Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department in the Federal Capital Territory.

This appointment is expected to strengthen leadership within the unit and drive the necessary reforms to achieve the police force's goals.
