IGP Tunji Disu Adopts Youth Declaration for Peace

On Saturday, the Inspector General of Police of the Nigeria Police Force, Tunji Disu, formally adopted a declaration made by Abuja youths during the International Youth Day 2026 Initiative celebration at Soul Lounge Resorts, Jahi, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja. The declaration included commitments to reject political violence, thuggery, cultism, and misinformation.

The youths pledged to promote peace, unity, and security in Nigeria, vowing not to be used for violence. Disu commended the youths for their commitment and assured continued engagement with them to foster a safer nation.

The event featured the public launch of the book ‘Esteemed Youth’ by ACP Olabisi Okuwobi, who also coordinated the event and expressed gratitude to the IGP and participants. Awards were presented to outstanding youths, including 16-year-old Osasere Okundaye, recognized as Nigeria’s youngest chartered accountant.

Okuwobi encouraged the youths to spread the message of responsible citizenship within their communities.
