IGP Disu Urges Nigerian Youths to Avoid Violence

On Thursday, during the Nigerian Police Force's celebration of International Youth Day in Abuja, Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu cautioned Nigerian youths against allowing their ambitions to be compromised by criminality, violence, or risky behaviors. He highlighted the dangers of electoral violence, stating that while political figures may reconcile after elections, young victims of such violence do not return home.

Disu affirmed the constitutional rights of youths to engage in political activities but stressed the need for a secure environment for these practices. He declared that the police would not protect violence or the recruitment of youths for hostile agendas as the 2027 electoral period approaches.

Additionally, he addressed the significance of digital presence, urging young Nigerians to verify information before sharing it online and to consider the impact of their actions in the digital realm.
