Nigeria Police Launch Youth Security Initiative in 2026

The Nigeria Police Force, under the leadership of Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu, is set to launch the National Youth Leadership and Security Initiative to commemorate International Youth Day 2026. This event will occur from August 20 to August 22, 2026, at the Nigeria Police Resource Centre in Jabi, Abuja, aligning with the United Nations theme: “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations.” The initiative will focus on five strategic pillars: leadership, security, innovation and enterprise, responsible citizenship, and digital responsibility.

It will feature two national campaigns: “My Future Is Greater Than Political Thuggery,” aimed at discouraging youth violence ahead of the 2027 General Elections, and “Think Before You Click. Verify Before You Share,” which addresses misinformation and cyberbullying.

Activities will include the launch of a youth advocacy book by ACP Olabisi Okuwobi, a digital innovation showcase, community outreach, tree planting, short movie skits, and a Youth Honours and Awards ceremony.
