IGP Disu Commended for Ensuring Secure Elections

Public affairs analyst Shehu Abdullahi praised Inspector General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu for his efforts in fostering a peaceful and secure electoral process in Nigeria. Abdullahi noted that the current police leadership's strategies have significantly improved public confidence in law enforcement.

He emphasized the importance of maintaining professionalism and impartiality within the Nigeria Police Force, especially as preparations for the governorship elections in Ekiti State approach. The police are collaborating with security agencies to develop a comprehensive security architecture covering 16 local government areas and 154 wards.

Abdullahi also highlighted the need for strict adherence to laws and warned political actors against compromising the integrity of the electoral process. He commended the Inspector General's commitment to accountability and discipline within the police force, particularly in response to misconduct.

Furthermore, Abdullahi welcomed the police's proactive measures to address rising political tensions in Osun State ahead of the elections scheduled for August 15, 2026.
