IGP Olatunji Disu Launches New Crime Reporting App

On Tuesday, at the NPF Conference Centre in Jabi, Abuja, Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu launched two new technology platforms: the Nigeria Police Force Vigilant App and the NPF-MTN Closed User Group (CUG) Network. These initiatives are part of the police leadership's efforts to leverage technology in combating crime, particularly as criminals increasingly utilize digital platforms for fraudulent activities.

The Vigilant App allows the public to report suspected financial fraud, submit evidence, track complaint progress, and receive feedback. Developed by the Force ICT Department with financial sector stakeholders, the app aims to simplify reporting financial crimes and enhance communication between victims and law enforcement.

Disu emphasized the necessity of adopting technology for effective policing, stating that the police must evolve to meet the changing nature of crime. He also assured that information provided through the platform would be treated confidentially and urged police personnel to maintain professionalism in handling reports.
