IGP Disu to Decorate Newly Promoted AIGs and CPs Today

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Disu will preside over a decoration ceremony for newly promoted Assistant Inspectors General (AIGs) and Commissioners of Police (CPs) today. This event occurs amid a significant internal reshuffling within the Nigerian Police Force, aimed at enhancing leadership and strategic deployment.

Moshood Jimoh, currently serving as the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, is reportedly lobbying to retain his role, despite previous unsuccessful attempts to head the Zone 2 Command. He is also considered for a potential position in the Criminal Investigation Department at Alagbon.

Tijani Fatai, a Lagos-born officer currently serving at the Eastern Port Command, has been identified as a possible replacement for Jimoh. Jimoh assumed office as the 41st Commissioner of Police in Lagos State in February 2025, succeeding Olanrewaju Ishola, who was redeployed to Abuja.

The promotions are part of a broader process that included examinations and interviews conducted by the Police Service Commission at their headquarters in Abuja.
