IGP Disu Deploys Tactical Assets to Oyo After Kidnapping

On May 15, 2026, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Disu, ordered the deployment of additional tactical and intelligence assets to Oyo State to reinforce ongoing security operations in the Oriir Local Government Area, which is adjacent to a forest where a tragic kidnapping incident occurred. The IGP expressed deep concern and extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims during his visit to Oyo State.

Accompanying him was the Commissioner of Police for Kwara State, Ojo Adekimi, reflecting a strategic proximity to the Oriir area, which borders Kwara State. The IGP also met with the Commissioner of Police for Oyo State, Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, and security stakeholders to receive operational briefs on the ongoing rescue efforts.

He assured residents, parents, and guardians that the Nigeria Police Force would collaborate with security agencies to intensify search and rescue operations, gather intelligence, and ensure the safe return of the abducted victims while bringing the perpetrators to justice.
