IGP Disu Presents N2.32bn to Families of Fallen Officers

On Thursday in Abuja, the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, presented cheques totaling N2,317,177,094 to 2,971 beneficiaries, including next-of-kin of deceased police officers. This payment is part of the Group Life Assurance, Group Personal Accident, and IGP Family Welfare schemes covering the insurance policy years from 2017/2018 to 2024/2025.

The funds also include outstanding balances recovered from insurance companies due to previous partial settlements. IGP Disu emphasized that while no financial compensation can replace a lost loved one, these benefits aim to provide practical support to the affected families.

He reiterated the Nigeria Police Force's commitment to the welfare of officers and their families, especially in a challenging security environment. Disu directed the Force Insurance Unit to enhance awareness of insurance entitlements among officers and their families.

ACP Lydia Ameh, the Force Insurance Officer, praised the IGP for prioritizing the resolution of outstanding claims and improving access to insurance benefits.
