IHRC Launches Initiative to Combat Child Trafficking in Nigeria

On the occasion of the 2026 World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, the International Human Rights Commission (IHRC Corporation), also known as the INTERPOL Centre USA (ICA), announced a new policy initiative aimed at preventing child trafficking in Nigeria. The initiative, articulated in a joint statement by IHRC Secretary-General Prof. h.c.

Rafal Marcin Wasik and H.E. Ambassador Duru Hezekiah, emphasizes the need for Nigeria to shift from merely responding to trafficking incidents to implementing stronger prevention systems.

This initiative is anchored on the forthcoming Nigeria Child Protection Compact (CPC) Readiness Assessment and Strategic Framework (2027–2032), which aims to enhance Nigeria's response to child trafficking. The IHRC Corporation is collaborating with the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) to develop this framework, which includes the National Community-Based Child Protection and Anti-Trafficking Prevention Platform (NCCPATPP) to strengthen grassroots efforts against child trafficking.
