Super Falcons to Face Comoros in Olympic Qualifiers

The Super Falcons of Nigeria will play their second-round Olympic qualifying matches against Comoros on October 9 and 13, 2023, at Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne-Remo. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has expressed confidence in the team's ability to secure a spot for the 2028 Los Angeles Games after receiving a bye into this round.

Comoros advanced by defeating Sudan 30-0 on aggregate. The Falcons must navigate four rounds of two-legged knockout ties to secure one of Africa's two Olympic spots.

If successful against Comoros, they will face either DR Congo or Morocco in the third round scheduled for February 23 to March 6, 2027. The NFF is working to appoint a new technical crew before the qualifiers, with Swedish coach Thomas Dennerby being considered for the role.

This follows the resignation of coach Justine Madugu and his crew after the team's poor performance at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, where they failed to defend their title and missed out on the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
