Super Falcons Start Olympic Qualification for LA 2028

Nigeria’s Super Falcons are set to embark on their qualification journey for the women’s football tournament at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. They will enter the qualifying campaign at the second-round stage, facing Comoros in a two-legged tie scheduled for October 5 to 13, 2026.

The Super Falcons, among the top-seeded nations that received a bye into this round, will be expected to overcome Comoros, who secured their place after defeating Sudan 30-0 on aggregate. This encounter marks the beginning of another attempt for the Super Falcons to secure an Olympic spot, having qualified for Paris 2024 after a 16-year absence.

If Nigeria successfully navigates the Comoros challenge, they will face either Morocco or Congo in the third round, scheduled for February 23 to March 6, 2027. The fourth round will take place from October 4 to 12, 2027, where the winner will meet one of four established African teams.

The Nigeria Football Federation must ensure adequate preparation for this demanding qualification route.
