Peter Obi to Contest 2027 Presidential Election

Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State, declared his intention to run for the presidency in the 2027 elections despite the presence of 30 governors from the All Progressives Congress (APC). He stated that previous attempts to deter his candidacy would not succeed.

Obi emphasized the dire state of Nigeria, describing it as a country in collapse that requires urgent redemption. He expressed his commitment to addressing the needs of the people, particularly the poor, and criticized the current socio-economic conditions where wealthy Nigerians are thriving while many struggle for basic necessities.

Obi clarified that he is not desperate for the presidency but is passionate about making Nigeria functional. He also mentioned his departure from the Labour Party, citing issues with the party's leadership and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) regarding recognition and judgment.

Obi called for free and fair elections, urging the need for transparency in the electoral process.
