Adeleke Promises Progress After Osun Re-election Victory

Ademola Adeleke, the Governor of Osun State, assured residents he would not disappoint them following his re-election for a second term, which was confirmed by the Independent National Electoral Commission on August 15. During a press conference, he attributed his victory to the support of the people, stating, “I dedicate this victory to the good people of Osun State.” Adeleke, who ran on the platform of the Accord Party, received 511,067 votes, defeating Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, who garnered 444,815 votes.

Adeleke won in 19 out of the 30 local government areas, while Oyebamiji won 11. He expressed gratitude to supporters of democracy and the media, emphasizing his commitment to development and good governance.

Adeleke plans to address his shortcomings and expand Osun's development, stating, “I am the governor of all Osun State people.” His victory secures his position after previously being elected in 2022 under the Peoples Democratic Party.
