Chisora Declines Itauma Fight, Citing Experience Gap

British heavyweight Derek Chisora, aged 42, has declined a potential fight with rising star Moses Itauma, 21, stating during an appearance on the boxing debate show Fight Your Corner, “I’m not that stupid.” Chisora, whose professional record stands at 36 wins (23 by knockout) and 14 defeats, last fought in April 2026, losing to Deontay Wilder. He expressed his reluctance to face Itauma, who recently suffered his first professional defeat on August 29, 2023, against Filip Hrgovic at the O2 Arena in London.

Itauma, promoted by Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions and trained by Ben Davison, holds a record of 14 wins (12 by knockout) and one defeat. Despite his loss, Itauma remains optimistic about his future, stating he gained valuable experience.

Hrgovic praised Itauma's talent but noted a gap in experience. Warren mentioned that Itauma sustained a leg injury during the fight and needs to improve his ring craft for future bouts.
