Senator Shehu Buba Denies Banditry Allegations

Shehu Buba, the senator representing Bauchi South and a former Chairman of the Senate Committee on National Security and Intelligence, has denied recent allegations connecting him to banditry. He accused political opponents of orchestrating a campaign to tarnish his reputation.

Buba stated he has petitioned the Inspector-General of Police concerning these allegations and mentioned that four suspects have been arrested related to the case. The controversy arose after a local resident, identified as Hassan, claimed in an interview that Buba was among politicians supporting bandits in the area.

Hassan alleged that individuals linked to notorious bandit leader Dogo Gide were taken to Abuja for specialized training by one of Buba’s aides. In response, Buba dismissed these claims as an attempt to undermine him and accused Hassan of fleeing to Niger Republic while continuing to spread misinformation online.

The Bauchi State Police Command, represented by spokesperson Nafiu Habib, indicated they had not received any formal complaints regarding the allegations.
