Senator Buba Invites Security Probe Over Banditry, Terrorism Claims

Senator Shehu Buba, representing Bauchi South and the Peoples Redemption Party's gubernatorial candidate for 2027, has invited Nigeria's security agencies to investigate accusations that he financed banditry and terrorism activities. At a press conference in Bauchi on Monday, Buba announced his voluntary submission to the Department of State Services, Defense Intelligence Agency, and Nigeria Police Force, stating he has nothing to conceal and welcomes a thorough examination of the claims.

Buba characterized the allegations as politically motivated attacks that have circulated repeatedly against him and now require formal response rather than silence. He challenged anyone possessing evidence of his involvement in banditry, terrorism financing, kidnapping, or other violent crimes to present such proof to law enforcement, and indicated his readiness to face prosecution should credible evidence emerge from the investigation.

The Peoples Redemption Party has separately defended its candidate, dismissing the accusations as deliberate falsehoods designed to damage his reputation ahead of the 2027 election. Through National Publicity Secretary Muhammed Ishaq, the party called on those making such claims to submit verified evidence to authorities instead of spreading unconfirmed information via social media, characterizing the allegations as political sabotage.

The sequence of events began when various accusations against Buba circulated online linking him to criminal networks. Buba's decision to formally invite security investigation represents an escalation from the party's initial denial, moving the matter into official channels where federal agencies can independently examine the allegations.
