Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour Stays with ADC Amid Political Shifts

Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the former Labour Party governorship candidate for Lagos State, has reaffirmed his commitment to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) amidst ongoing political realignments within Nigeria's opposition bloc. In a statement addressing Lagos residents, Rhodes-Vivour expressed his loyalty to the ADC despite uncertainties affecting opposition politics.

He acknowledged the difficult choices faced by opposition figures and emphasized that his decision to remain with the ADC is not based on political convenience but on a commitment to build the state. Rhodes-Vivour highlighted the importance of a strong organizational structure for the opposition, particularly in preparation for the 2023 elections, and called for mobilization and coordination at the local government level.

He previously ran a high-profile campaign that garnered significant youth support but lost to Babajide Sanwo-Olu of the APC. His statement comes as the opposition faces increasing fragmentation ahead of the 2027 elections, with key figures moving across different platforms.
