Immigration Officer Stabbed to Death by Wife in Abia

On February 16, 2026, Chidieber Jame, an immigration officer serving in the Abia State Command, was stabbed to death by his wife during a violent altercation in their home located in Umuizi, Umuogba, Umuahia North Local Government Area. The conflict reportedly began earlier that day when the couple engaged in a heated argument concerning their sick child and the officer's alleged inability to provide money for medical treatment.

Tensions escalated when the wife discovered incriminating messages on the deceased's mobile phone, leading to further accusations of infidelity. Family members, including the deceased's sister, attempted to intervene and restore calm, but the situation deteriorated again the following morning.

During a renewed quarrel, a physical struggle ensued, resulting in the wife allegedly picking up a pair of scissors and fatally stabbing Jame. He collapsed shortly after the incident and was confirmed dead at the Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia.
