Immigration Officer Stabbed to Death by Wife in Abia

On February 16, 2026, Chidieber Jame, a 38-year-old officer of the Nigerian Immigration Service, popularly known as Agali, was allegedly stabbed to death by his wife in Umuizi Ekeoba Ohuhu, Abia State. The incident reportedly began earlier that day when the couple engaged in a heated argument over their sick child, with Jame's inability to provide money for medical treatment exacerbating tensions.

The situation worsened when the wife allegedly discovered incriminating messages on Jame's mobile phone. Family members, including Jame's sister, attempted to intervene and restore calm, but tensions resurfaced the following morning, leading to a confrontation inside their home.

During the altercation, Jame's phone was damaged, prompting his wife to retaliate. The confrontation escalated fatally when she allegedly picked up a pair of scissors and stabbed him.

Jame collapsed shortly after, and his death was confirmed at the Federal Medical Centre in Umuahia. Following the incident, the wife attempted to flee but was prevented by enraged youths who gathered at the scene.
