UN Praises Imo State's Digital Transformation Efforts

Amina Mohammed, the UN Deputy Secretary-General, visited Imo State on Thursday to commend Governor Hope Uzodimma's administration for its significant strides in digital transformation, youth empowerment, economic diversification, and public-sector reforms. The UN described these initiatives as a strong foundation for sustainable development.

During the visit at the Executive Council Chambers in Owerri, the UN delegation highlighted Imo State's strategic investments in education, digital skills, and power infrastructure, which are fostering competitive enterprises and productive jobs. Mohammed expressed inspiration from the youth's determination to engage in the emerging digital economy.

Governor Uzodimma responded by detailing his administration's focus on technology as a catalyst for tackling unemployment and enhancing security. He mentioned the Imo Digital Economy Agenda (IDEA), which has trained thousands of youths in various tech fields.

Additionally, he outlined energy initiatives aimed at providing clean and reliable energy. The UN team emphasized the need for continued investments in human capital and social protection.
