Imo Police Arrest Two Suspected Armed Robbers
On Wednesday, the Imo State Police Command arrested two suspected armed robbers, Solomon Ejekw, 29, from Ubaha Orodo in Mbaitoli LGA, and Emeka Charl, 35, from Umuopara Ngugo in Ikeduru LGA. The arrests followed a swift response to a distress call regarding an armed robbery incident in Aladinma, Owerri.
According to the police spokesman, DSP Henri Okoy, the suspects approached a victim at a car wash in Mangrov Aladinma, attempting to rob him of a gold chain at gunpoint. The victim pursued the suspects on a motorcycle, successfully knocking them down.
An angry mob subsequently overpowered and beat the suspects until police arrived. The suspects were taken into custody and required medical attention.
They will be arraigned in court on appropriate criminal charges as soon as possible. CP Audu Garba Bosso commended the prompt response of the police and urged the public to refrain from mob justice.
