Police Arrest Suspected Robber, Recover Stolen Items in Imo

The Imo State Police Command arrested a suspected armed robber, Chigaemezu Aguguom, during a patrol operation led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the Orji Division. The arrest occurred near Bishop's Court, close to Pacific Hotel in Owerri, where Aguguom was found with a gunshot wound sustained during a failed criminal operation.

According to police spokesman Henri Okoy, the suspect allegedly confessed to being a member of a five-man armed robbery gang and provided information to assist in the arrest of other fleeing members of the syndicate. Items recovered from Aguguom included two locally fabricated firearms, five live cartridges, four smartphones, and a wristwatch, all valued as stolen property.

The suspect and the recovered exhibits have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Owerri for further investigation and possible prosecution. Police Commissioner Audu Bosso urged the public to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station, especially during the Easter period.
