Nwachukwu Sues NDC Over Imo North Senatorial Candidacy

Isaac Nwachukwu, an aspirant for the Imo North senatorial district under the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has initiated legal proceedings against the NDC and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at the Federal High Court in Owerri, Imo State. Nwachukwu claims that despite paying a total of 25 million Naira for party support and nomination forms, he was denied the party's ticket.

He alleges that his name was substituted for another aspirant despite being the consensual candidate among party members. Nwachukwu seeks a court order to declare him the official candidate for the 2027 general elections and to restrain the NDC from fielding any other candidate.

He also claims that the funds he contributed were improperly allocated and that the party's processes did not comply with its constitution or electoral laws. The court documents include affidavits and evidence of payments made to the party.

Nwachukwu's legal action follows a meeting with party leaders, where he was reportedly deemed not popular enough to represent the party.
