Court Rules Uzodimma's Candidacy Invalid, Okorocha Confirmed

The Arewa Youth for Peaceful Coexistence (AYPC) has hailed a Federal High Court ruling that nullified Governor Hope Uzodimma's emergence as the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for Imo West in the 2027 elections. The court, presided over by Justice Obiora Egwuatu, ruled in suit number FHC/ABJ/CS/1854/2026 that Uzodimma was not the winner of the APC primary election held on May 18, 2026.
The judgement stated that Uzodimma's nomination violated the Electoral Act and the party's guidelines, directing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognize Senator Rochas Okorocha as the valid candidate. AYPC's National President, Comrade Haruna Bature, claimed that Okorocha had won the primary but was denied the ticket through name substitution.
The group urged Uzodimma to respect the ruling and stop presenting himself as the APC candidate, while also calling on the APC leadership to comply with the court's directive.
