Atiku Abubakar Denies Obasanjo's Impeachment Allegations

Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, has refuted allegations made by former President Olusegun Obasanjo, claiming that Atiku bribed the late former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ghali Umar Na’Abba, to facilitate his impeachment. Atiku characterized the accusation as a desperate attempt to rewrite history and influence the political landscape ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

He questioned the timing of the allegation, noting that it was made after Na’Abba's death, which prevented the late Speaker from defending himself. Atiku argued that the allegation lacked evidence and had never been substantiated by any judicial findings or investigations.

He suggested that the claims were politically motivated to damage his reputation and benefit Obasanjo’s preferred candidate for the upcoming elections. Atiku also attributed his long-standing rift with Obasanjo to his opposition to the controversial third-term agenda during Obasanjo's presidency, asserting that he defended constitutional democracy during that period.
