Troops Neutralize Over 80 Terrorists in Borno Operation

In Borno, troops from the Joint Task Force North East, operating under Operation Hadin Kai, successfully killed over 80 terrorists, including high-profile commanders, during a five-pronged military operation on Wednesday. The operation targeted the Mallam Fatori sector and was executed within 24 hours of repelling separate attempts by ISWAP and Boko Haram to overrun four military locations across the North East.

Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba stated that the terrorists advanced in large numbers, deploying armed drones in a desperate attempt to breach troop defenses, particularly at the 68 Battalion front. The operation involved precise close air support from the Nigerian Air Force and allied Nigerien air assets, which pressured fleeing insurgents.

The troops recovered substantial caches of weapons, including 52 AK-47 rifles, eight PKT machine guns, seven RPG tubes, and improvised explosive devices. The operation also eliminated three notable terrorist commanders, significantly disrupting the insurgents' command structure in the region.
