Nigeria to Host Inaugural National Intermediate Games 2026

The inaugural meeting for the National Intermediate Games was convened by the National Sports Commission (NSC) and the Lagos State Sports Commission in Abuja. Hon.

Bukola Olopade, the Director General of the NSC, announced that the games will take place from October 1 to October 15, 2026, in Lagos. The initiative aims to revive the intermediate sports system in Nigeria, focusing on grassroots development and producing top athletes.

Mallam Shehu Dikko, the chairman of the organizing committee, expressed confidence in Lagos's ability to host a world-class event, supported by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. The games will feature 15 compulsory sports, with an emphasis on balancing youth participation and elite competition.

The organizing committee is committed to creating a legacy and setting high standards for future competitions.
