NSC to Sanction States for No-Show at Para Games

The National Sports Commission (NSC) has announced that states failing to register athletes for the upcoming Para Games will face sanctions, including suspensions from future events. This decision, reported on Friday, aims to enforce strict compliance with competition regulations and promote professionalism and discipline within para sports in Nigeria. Bukola Olopade, the Director General of the NSC, emphasized the importance of adhering to established rules to sustain the credibility and development of sports in Nigeria. The NSC confirmed that according to Article 13 of the competition rules, states that do not participate will be barred from competing in the next national sports festival. The NSC is committed to ensuring compliance and maintaining a level playing field for athletes. The recent third National Para Games concluded with Enugu State emerging as the overall champion, securing 40 gold, eight silver, and seven bronze medals, followed by Bayelsa State and Edo State in second and third places, respectively.
