Lagos to Host National Intermediate Games in 2026

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State inaugurated the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the maiden edition of the National Intermediate Games, scheduled for October 2026. During the ceremony held at the Banquet Hall of Lagos House, Marina, Sanwo-Olu emphasized the significance of the LOC's role in advancing sports development in Nigeria.

He stated that the National Intermediate Games would provide a platform for young athletes across the country to showcase their talents and create opportunities for growth in sports. The decision to host the event reflects Lagos State's commitment to youth empowerment and sports development.

Sanwo-Olu noted that the event would foster social inclusion and cultural exchange among participants from different regions. Bukola Olopade, Director General of the National Sports Commission, commended Lagos State for its sustained investment in sports infrastructure and expressed confidence in the state's ability to successfully host the games.

Mobolaji Ogunlend, co-chairman of the LOC, assured the governor of their commitment to delivering a successful tournament that would positively impact millions of Nigerian youth.
