1,059,360 Voters Registered for Ekiti Governorship Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) reported that there are 1,059,360 registered voters for the upcoming Ekiti State governorship election set for June 20, 2026. This figure marks an increase from 987,647 registered voters in 2023.

The number of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) collected has also risen to 958,052, reflecting a collection rate of 97%. INEC Chairman Moham Haruna stated that the PVC collection exercise, originally scheduled to end on June 11, 2026, was extended to June 14, 2026, following consultations with stakeholders.

The commission has received 14,406 applications for replacement PVCs due to loss or damage. However, the option to download copies of lost or damaged voter cards has not been implemented due to incomplete technological infrastructure.

Haruna emphasized the importance of stakeholder support in mobilizing citizens to collect their PVCs in preparation for the election.
