ADC Demands Arrest of Nafiu Bala Over False Claims

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has urged law enforcement to arrest Nafiu Bala, following his claims that he obtained access codes to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the purpose of uploading candidates for the 2027 general elections. In a statement issued on Tuesday by the party's national publicity secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC rejected Bala's claims as false and emphasized that they elevate the matter beyond political controversy to a criminal issue requiring investigation.

The ADC contends that Bala's public assertions about INEC's restricted candidate nomination platform are serious allegations that could undermine the confidence in Nigeria's electoral system. The party has called on INEC to refer the matter to appropriate security agencies to ensure that Bala and anyone involved in the circulation of the alleged forged documents are investigated and prosecuted according to the law.

The ADC warns that failure to act decisively could set a dangerous precedent, encouraging similar false claims that could create confusion and undermine trust in democratic institutions.
