INEC Announces 2 Leading States as 1.3 Million Complete Voter Card Pre-Registration

INEC has announced that 1.3 million Nigerians completed the online pre-registration process in the first week of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, which took place from August 18 to 24, 2025. Osun state had the highest turnout at 11.7%, followed by the Federal Capital Territory and Oyo.

The CVR exercise will continue until August 30, 2026, with 811 registration centers across the country open from Monday to Friday. The exercise also allows for voter registration, card replacement, and is crucial for the 2027 general elections.

Oyo state government has urged residents to participate actively in the exercise to ensure they can choose their leaders in the upcoming elections. INEC recorded impressive registration numbers within seven hours of launching the online phase of the CVR exercise.
